I am doing pretty good. It's a big adjustment. UWGB is a Division 1 state school, so it's pretty big. I have my first lecture hall class: 120 people. I actually have 2 lecture halls: economics (which I can't understand the teacher in, he's Indian) and science (our professor is a crazy old cat women). I only got lost once in the tunnels and overall am finding my way around pretty darn good. I actually like having a campus, I just wish I could meet more people.
I had to start over with Theory. booooo. So I'm with the freshman in Theory 1. It's so basic, but it is kinda a breather from the intenseness that is CCPA Theory. It'll definitely boost up my GPA.
I just had my first voice lesson today. It's really different from the way the CCPA runs it. First off I only have to take voice lessons 3 out of 4 years, once a week for 45 minutes. I got placed with Sarah Meredith. I have heard from multiple sources that she is the best of the voice faculty so that's good, I was really worried about that. Since my voice lessons at Roosevelt were only 30 minutes a week, they put me as a Sophomore status for voice, which actually works out to my benefit cause in my other classes I'm a junior, so I'll get to have voice lessons all four years technically. :-)
With my voice teacher we are kinda breaking the rules. We have voice twice a week on Tuesday and Thursdays for 30 minutes each. I get 15 minutes free. On Wednesday we have studio meeting. We meet with our studio and basically it's like a performance class. We sing for each other and critique each other. It's nice to finally be a part of that.
We have to keep logs on our voice lessons and turn them in at the end of semester. This week we focused on breathing and getting me to breath deeper. I am expected to practice an hour a day and have to keep a log of that as well.
I miss Chicago and our voice lessons, but I am happy with a few of the changes here. I like that I get the studio time to really get to know my peers, and I like that I get an hour a week instead of half.
I also get to take Diction which I'm really excited for.
The program may not be as good as the CCPAs, but it's not awful. And I think that I'll get out of it what I put into it.
I will graduate in 2 1/2 maybe 3 years. I want to graduate as soon as possible. I'm not giving up on my passion, and that's the main thing.
I refuse to loose focus on my goal. I want my classroom. I want my choir. That's really all I want out of life.
